Mega-Pixel Resolution
One CCTV question we hear quite often is “Can I zoom in (from 200’ away) and see a license plate?” We're excited to say that with today's technology the answer is "Yes!"
The clarity of any picture is based on resolution (image definition) and it applies to analog and digital signals. With analog it consists of interlaced TV-lines and with digital the images are made up of pixels. Although an image from an analog camera can be digitized using a DVR or video server, its limited to a maximum resolution of (704 x 576) or 0.4 megapixels.
Fortunately these days a common network megapixel camera can provide 1.3 megapixels (1280 x 1024) or about three times the resolution of an analog camera. The denser concentration of pixels per frame means significantly less image distortion when the frame is enlarged.
